About the content
This microlearning course introduces Pediatric Emergency Care Champions (PECCs) to foundational concepts in disaster management and their connection to pediatric readiness. Learners will explore key disaster terminology, the four phases of the disaster cycle, the 4 S’s of disaster readiness, the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA). Throughout the course, learners will consider how pediatric needs fit within each of these areas and how PECCs can work with Emergency Management to help ensure children and families are represented in facility disaster planning and preparedness.
